If there is any form of alcohol in your system, it can ultimately lead to a driving under the influence (DUI) arrest. Unfortunately, DUI arrests happen regularly and can happen at any place, even at your own residence. People usually think that a DUI arrest is made when a person is caught driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Yet, there has been several cases in which an individual has been arrested for a DUI without even drinking alcohol. DUI arrests aren’t just made for someone who has been driving under the influence of alcohol, but for driving under the influence of any type of drug or chemical also. The legal blood alcohol content in most states and jurisdictions is 0.08%. The legal blood alcohol content can be found out at the jail once you have been arrested. Sadly, it is not easy to see if your blood alcohol content is above the standard 0.08% for alcohol or drugs, so the best way to avoid taking that test it is if you refrain from drinking any form of alcohol or consuming any type of drug before you come to the conclusion that you want to drive any vehicle.
People who have been arrested for a DUI for the first time are often times given leeway, but the more times a person does it, then the consequences for doing so will gradually expand. Field sobriety tests are given to see if a person has been driving under the influence. The rules for the test are when a person must attempt to stand on one leg for a certain amount of time, do a horizontal gaze with their eyes, and the person must walk and turn. A person must also take a breathalyzer test in which they must blow into a device that will come to the conclusion if the individual’s alcohol level is above 0.08%. Lastly, you have the blood alcohol content test, which is when an individual draws blood and the blood from the individual is correctly measured. The blood alcohol content test is the most guaranteed test that is taken to determine if an individual has been driving under the influence.
